1945: Philip Lato turns family farm over to Joe to run. Philip and Agnes buy a local farmhouse, dismatle the house, and move it to a lot inside of Thorp, WI. With the help of a local farmer who was also a carpenter, Philip re-assembles the house in Thorp. Joe starts running the family farm alone.

1954: Joe and Carol sold Farm. Joe went to telegraph school in Salt Lake City, Utah alone; Carol stayed back on the Family Farm with Janice and Kathleen. Joe completed his school

January 2, 1956: Joe and Carol bought hardware store in Stratford, WI

July 1966: Sauter's Funeral Home (next door to Hardware Store) caught fire.

1968-1969: Joe Served on Stratford Wisconsin Village Board of Trustees. Was on the Committee of Public Works (Streets, Sewers, Sidewalks, Streetlighting, etc) and Committee of Public Welfare, Health, Relief, Parks, etc.

1992 - 1996: Joe Served on Stratford Wisconsin Village Board of Trustees.

April 8, 2000: Stratford Mini Storage (201 South Street, Stratford, Wisconsin) was sold by Joe and Carol to Bernie and Jennifer Wenzel. Mini Storage History: 1990: opened for business; 1992: addition was made to storege units first building; 1999: another storage unit building was built. (From Marshfield News Herald)
